Because that means the election will be THAT much closer to being OVER!
I don't know about the rest of you, but here in Wisconsin, we are being SLAMMED with TV ads, phone calls, junk mail and campaign workers showing up at your door.
We are averaging 10 phone calls a day [everybody from Bush, Kerry and Clinton recordings, to local football hero Bart Starr who is apparently on the GOP payroll now] 5 pieces of junk mail encouraging us to vote for whoever and God only knows how many TV ads.
And since I've been off work [laid off] for going on my second week now, I have had to endure the full force of this campaign.
So yeah, make sure you vote tomorrow and lets raise a nice cold *insert favorite cold beverage HERE* to the END of this election!
Ok, rant done. Carry on.

I am getting a ton of calls to the phone here at work realted to the election. The bad part is when I come into the ofice in the morning and find that I have 10 voice mail messages, all from recoded campaining.
Sorry to hear that you have gotten laid off. That sucks. I had it done to me last year around Christmas. Not a pleasant thing, but I am sure you'll come out on top with something better!

Thanks -mega, no worries here though [quite yet]
I really did have a great boss, who has repeatedly sent me e-mails saying pretty much "please don't find a new job, we will call you back Dec 1st" so it's more of a "low paying" time off scenario than it is true hardship.
Now if they DON'T call back, well then I'm screwed.
Still sucks though, it's the first time it's ever happened to me and it's not fun being the official company "PLAN B" when sales are down. I'd love to tell them to piss off when they call back, but we all have bills to pay [and some like me have families to support] so I'm not going to let my pride get in the way taking my old job back. Not to mention it paid pretty damn well for what I do.

sounds like the same thing my brother goes through every year. His job as a tool and dye maker is always down during the summer and he gets laid off for a couple of months. The funny thing with him is when he is working, they are working his 7 days and 12 hours and he just saves up all the over time during the time he is working and looks at it all as an extended vacation.
I wasn't lucky enough to have that when I got laid off as I was basically told "we're getting rid of 50% of the company, there's the door". I had to scramble.
Atleast you know come December it looks like you'll have it back. Id still be looking for something stable that is out there in the meantime doens't mean you have to take it

it's not gonna be over for months... there'll be recounts, and law suits, and appeals and it will never end...

Ditto here.
Sorry you got laid off Marv, hope everything works out partner.
Cheers to what I fecking hope will be the end of the dirtiest campaign (on both sides) that I've ever witnessed. But to quote the now infamous SW line:"I got a baaad feeling about this" I think we're going to have an even worse time than we did in 2000 as far as getting either of these Bozos into the White House.
